What is the weather forecast for the Singapore Grand Prix?
After an exciting Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend, Formula 1 makes its way to Singapore this weekend for a night-time spectacle at the Marina Bay Circuit. The street circuit is challenging for the drivers, with Singapore itself providing a stunning backdrop for the viewers. Rain has helped create some iconic Singapore Grands Prix in the past, but will there be more showers for the Grand Prix this Sunday?
What is the weather forecast for the Singapore Grand Prix?
For the Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Circuit, Weather.com predicts that the track will stay dry for the whole day, despite the risk of rain that was predicted earlier in the week. The forecast for the race, which begins at 20:00 local time, 13:00 BST, is that temperatures will be around about 30 degrees Celcius under the lights of Singapore, one of the toughest tests for the drivers on the grid.
There is only a 3% chance of rain, and that will then decrease to just 2% halfway through the race, with the usual Singapore showers that cause havoc not expected to show themselves. Winds of 6mph will hit the Marina Bay Circuit, but they will not cause the drivers any issues.
What will cause the drivers an issue is the humidity that is forecast in the Singaporean nights. 73% humidity is expected for when the lights go out, meaning drivers will be racing in temperatures that feel like 35 degrees Celsius.
Singapore is the only race on the calendar that Max Verstappen has yet to win. Verstappen's past two races have been poor, with the Red Bull driver finishing sixth in Italy and fifth in Azerbaijan. However, a P2 start alongside Lando Norris could change his fortunes around. Ferrari managed to win in Singapore last year, which was the only time there was a non-Red Bull victory in Red Bull's dominant 2023 season. McLaren, who won the last Grand Prix with Oscar Piastri, are also expected to be strong this weekend.
