Racing Point driver Sergio Pérez has said he isn't concerned by potential favouritism of the team to his new teammate Lance Stroll, as the Canadian's dad now owns the team.

Stroll's father Lawrence led the group of investors that got Force India out of administration last summer. The billionaire has big plans for the team now, and he got his son on board to be a part of the experience. Stroll Jr. came from Williams, where he had his worst year in F1 in 2018 as he scored six points.

When asked whether he knows Stroll and if he thinks he'll be favoured in the garage because of his family ties, Pérez remained confident that the team would always come first.

“I don’t know him much as a driver," the Mexican was quoted by Motorsport Week.

"In Formula 1, it’s so difficult to prepare, to know a driver from another team.

“95 percent of your results is done by the car. He’s certainly had a poor [2018] season down to his car. I think Williams had a lot of trouble.

“But the kid definitely has talent. He’s been on the podium, when it’s wet he’s always up there, and I think he’s coming to a great team with one of the best engineers in the world.

“I think he will be in great hands to deliver his full potential.”
