It was a tough debut for Felipe Massa in Formula E as he finished P14 in his first race with Venturi.

The driver suffered a penalty for a technical infringement and finished outside the top 10 alongside fellow new boy and former F1 driver Stoffel Vandoorne who finished seventh.

Antonio Felix da Costa took the victory in the season opener after a drive-through penalty cost Jean-Eric Vergne who finished second and Jerome d’Ambrosio completed the podium.

Stoffel Vandoorne, Felipe Massa, Antonio Felix da Costa, Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi were the beneficiaries of the first #FanBoost of the season, a new feature which allows the fans to vote on what drivers they want to gain an in race boost.

With four minutes remaining d’Ambrosio had no Attack Modes remaining whilst his competitor's da Costa and Vergne did.

Vergne comfortably past the Belgian but he was unable to get by da Costa as the Portuguese man held on for victory.

Sam Bird who was flying the flag for Great Britain finished P11 and he’ll be looking to add to his two race wins from last season.

The next race will be in Marrakesh in Morocco.
