Ricciardo thinks positively: "Sights set forward for tomorrow'

20 April - 18:00

Daniel Ricciardo reflected on his qualifying performance positively for the Chinese Grand Prix, as the Australian put his VCARB in 12th place. He was just a few thousandths off of Q3, outqualifying teammate Yuki Tsunoda, who finished in 19th after a poor session. A big improvement on the previous races, which Ricciardo himself also acknowledges.

"It definitely feels better," Ricciardo told F1TV after qualifying. "All weekend the feeling has been pretty good and this is also an encouraging result. P12 is a nice starting position for the race, I was happy with my lap. There wasn't a whole lot more in it."

Honey Badger hopes for points

Ricciardo has yet to score any points this season, but he thinks that could well change tomorrow. The margins are tight around the Australian, however. "Look, obviously, on one hand, I do feel we have a bit of pace maybe on some cars around us. But then I know, Hamilton and some others might be out of position. There could also be a couple of cars challenging from behind. Sites are certainly more set ahead, and we'll see, but so far, it's been a more positive weekend." The VCARB driver concluded.
