The history of the Visa Cash App RB F1 team
With Minardi looking for a potential buyer, Red Bull Racing bought the team and named it Toro Rosso. This was announced in 2005 with Franz Tost as team principal. The team's goal always was and still is to develop Red Bull Driver Academy’s young talents and help them step towards the bigger brother. Toro Rosso began their first season in 2006 with Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed behind the wheel.
The first major talent arrived at Toro Rosso in the middle of the 2007 season after American Scott Speed was replaced by Sebastian Vettel. Vettel did not have the greatest start to his career but finished fourth in China. The German earned Toro Rosso’s first-ever Pole Position a year later and a race win in Monza in wet conditions. At the time, Vettel became the youngest pole-sitter and Grand Prix winner. Toro Rosso won before Red Bull did.
Red Bull’s junior team continued to focus on developing talents, and the next driver after Vettel, who was promoted to Red Bull, was Daniel Ricciardo, who arrived at the Italian-based team in 2012. Toro Rosso also gave a debut to now world champion Max Verstappen, Daniil Kvyat, Carlos Sainz Jr, Alexander Albon, and Pierre Gasly. Gasly also won the team’s second race in Monza in 2020.

Visa Cash App RB continue to serve as a development team for Red Bull in 2024. After finishing 8th in 2023, they are hoping to work their way up the grid in this new era. The team's main rivals are Alfa Romeo, Haas, and Williams, and they are looking to fight for the points-paying positions.

Which engine will Visa Cash App RB use?
Visa Cash App RB will use a Honda RBPT (Red Bull powertrains) engine for the 2024 F1 season. The engine was developed by Honda, but they decided to pull out of Formula 1. Red Bull didn’t opt to join another engine manufacturer but instead set up their own factory in Milton Keynes, providing AlphaTauri with the same engine. The engine freeze meant that development wasn’t required. Honda decided to reinstate their partnership with Red Bull (and AlphaTauri) for 2023. From 2026 onwards, both teams will partner up with Ford.
