Is Lawson hoping for a promotion? “I'll have to be good tomorrow”
Christian Horner stated that Sergio Perez's passage to Q3 was positive for the Mexican, but he did not mention it was positive for the team. With a decision looming over Perez's future, Liam Lawson hopes to perform in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to improve his chances for getting a promotion.
To media present at the track, including GPblog, Lawson reacted to recent rumours which assume that the New Zealander will take 'Checo's' drive for next season. "I think everybody's assuming, but right now I honestly have no seat. And I'm not really sure what I'm doing [next year]".
Can Lawson take over Perez's seat for 2025?
After the race tomorrow, Red Bull's main personnel will meet on Monday to evaluate their drivers and this is when it is expected that the Austrian team will make the decision. "I was focused on today to do the best job I can. Obviously, we're always being evaluated, and I'm trying to do the best job I can. So I'll do the same tomorrow, and hopefully I'll get some news afterwards as to what I'll be doing".
Can Lawson take over Perez' spot within the Red Bull team? The New Zealander knows exactly what he'll have to do to increase his chances of getting the coveted second seat at the Milton Keynes-based squad: “I'll have to be good tomorrow”.
