'Worrying tests on active aerodynamics on 2026 car: F1 make new plan'

A new engine regulation will be introduced from 2026, and because a larger proportion will become electric (and thus the combustion engine generates less power as it does today in Formula 1), the cars will become slower. To compensate for that loss of speed, active aerodynamics are being considered.

Formula 1's intention were to go for a moving rear wing only. More downforce would then be created in the corners (to keep speeds high), while on the straights there would be less downforce (for higher top speed). However, tests by the F1 racing teams have shown that this concept has too little downforce at top speed, causing the cars to spin just like that when accelerating on the straight.

The FIA is now said to have concluded that the front wing should also be included in active aerodynamics. This should make the cars better balanced and negate the problem mentioned above.
