Drama for Nyck de Vries' team. At the Tokyo E-Prix, the Dutchman's car, which was racing for Mahindra Racing, did not make it to the finish. His teammate Edoardo Mortara finished in a points-paying position but was later disqualified.

Nyck de Vries' race was over after 17 laps after he made contact with another car in the field. So he had to abandon his race early on. Teammate Mortara, on the other hand, had a great race. The 37-year-old Swiss managed to put his car in third place already in the semi-final qualifying session; during the race, he also stayed around that spot. As the race progressed, he finished in a handsome sixth place, which would mean eight points for Mahindra. However, the joy did not last long when Mortara was disqualified for using too much energy. Drivers have a limit of 32kwh, and Mortara went over that.

So it is another tough season for the Indian team that is still pointless. They were hoping to make some strides with former world champion Nyck de Vries, unfortunately for them this remains to be seen. Last season, the team finished second-to-last in the constructors' standings with 41 points. The season is still long, but it remains to be seen whether they will come close to this point total. A disqualification will not help then.
