This is who Verstappen thinks will be his closest challenger in Jeddah
Max Verstappen will start the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in first place. The Dutchman is the favourite to win and take his career tally up to 56 Grand Prix victories, but there are no certainties in Formula 1, and he knows it himself.
Just before the start of the Grand Prix, the drivers go around the track and wave at the fans. In this, they are asked for their final thoughts before the lights go out in a few hours. Verstappen is confident about winning in Jeddah, provided nothing crazy happens. "It will all depend on the race pace of the car. Normally, that should be our strong point, so hopefully, it will be the same today. Then we can look after our tyres, but around here, it's never straightforward forward. It's a street circuit a lot of things can happen, safety cars as well so just need to stay on it. Make sure that we always make the right decision when it matters."
Ferrari closest to Red Bull, according to Verstappen
Red Bul Racing is currently the fastest team. Verstappen was asked which team might be closest to his Red Bull, and he said the following: "People are trying different strategies around us. I think all the teams are quite close in that scenario, so it's very difficult to tell which team, but I think maybe Ferrari is a little bit ahead of the others. We'll see."
Looking back at Friday's qualifying, Verstappen hopes for a similar day. "Yesterday was a good day. I think we improved the car a little bit more, so I was quite comfortable with the car, and that, around here, is very important. Hopefully, I will have that same feeling in the race."
