Richard Verschoor is in his third season in Formula 2, and it is still unclear in which class he will race in 2024. A seat in Formula 1 is not a real option, but another type of role with a team in the premier class of motorsport might be a viable option. Last week, for example, Verschoor spoke to Guenther Steiner, the team boss of Haas F1.

The Dutch driver - who finished third at Monza on Saturday - is his own advocate, although he is getting some help from others. A former Dutch pit reporter, for instance, arranged a meeting for Verschoor with Haas, with the possible aim of driving the first free practice for the American team during the Dutch Grand Prix weekend in 2024.

Last week at Zandvoort, Verschoor spoke to Steiner. What could he say about it? "Not much, to be honest," the 22-year-old responded in Italy to a question from GPblog. "It was nice. It was good to speak to each other and see what the opportunities are. But for the moment, I don't want to comment on that."

On the podium in Monza

In front of his home crowd at Zandvoort a week ago, Richard Verschoor would have loved to be on the podium, but the Formula 2 driver was stuck in fourth place in the main race. Barely six days later in Monza, the Van Amersfoort Racing driver was able to drink the champagne: he finished in third in the sprint race. Frederik Vesti won the race, and Victor Martins was second.
