It was a very good result for Williams in Miami, with a P5 for Alexander Albion and a P9 for Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard, however, said he "lost a lot of confidence" after his teammate collided with him on lap 1, damaging his car and then disregarded team orders to hold positions, overtaking the Spaniard.
It was not the smoothest of starts for the Williams pair as Sainz and Albon made contact on lap 1. On the dynamics with his teammate who then went on to disregard team orders and overtake him, Sainz had this to say: "[I] picked up damage at the start with Alex, then he made a mistake, I managed to pass him. Then the team told us that we were going to freeze positions," the Spaniard said to media including GPblog after the race.
"I don't know if he got the message or not but basically he overtook me back. From there onwards on that first sting I just tried to do everything to stay in contact with that group, holding up Charles behind with a used tyre and damaged car."

After the flag had dropped, on his way to parc fermé, Williams race engineer Gaetan Jego was trying to explain the situation to Sainz when the Spaniard cut him off: "Yes, that's not how I go racing guys I don't care. I've lost a lot of confidence here... on everything."
After that, team boss James Vowles stepped in to reassure Sainz: "Carlos, no point on discussing this at the moment, but I agree with you. We need proper engagement from him (Alex)."
"Well done on picking up points. You had damage to the car, we'll take you through. But, well done"
