While he is very happy with his race in Singapore, in which he finished in second place, Max Verstappen was not particularly impressed by Romain Grosjean, who impeded the Dutchman as he tried to get near Lewis Hamilton.

Verstappen's flying lap on Saturday was an amazing one, but it was out-classed by a zooming Lewis Hamilton, who somehow got a 1:36.0 out of that Mercedes. Verstappen started second, dropped down to third early, but regained second after pitting. He even charged towards Hamilton, gaining two seconds a lap at some point, until he got very close.

Romain Grosjean and Sergey Sirotkin were battling, and didn't see the blue flags, meaning they weren't letting Verstappen and Hamilton past easily. Verstappen lost four seconds because of Grosjean, a gap which he couldn't close afterwards.

"He was screwing around the whole time, so I'm glad he got a penalty," Verstappen told Ziggo Sport.

Still, he's happy with the result in the end, despite not winning on a track which favours Red Bull. Or does it?

"At the start, it didn't go well because we're missing power.

"After that, I got stuck in neutral so many times, quick-shifting wasn't working.

"I was very scared during the safety car, and fortunately that ended well, I got it into gear just in time.

"We kept having problems during the race, but I'm very happy with the result.

"We overtook Vettel again and that's good, otherwise you're in third."

Verstappen is expected to take a grid penalty in Russia, as he's due for an engine change.
