A large proportion of Formula 1 drivers live in Monaco or at least quite a distance from the disaster area in the Italian province of Emilia-Romagna. Since the end of his first season in Formula 1, Yuki Tsunoda has been living in the Faenza area, the city where his team AlphaTauri is based. The Japanese driver has seen first-hand the devastation of the water.

Through his Twitter account, Tsunoda reports from the affected area, which he calls home. Alongside a video and a photo of a street full of mud, the Japanese driver writes: "After a horrible night the town is heavily impacted: dust, mud, and the smell of gasoline everywhere. Currently people are struggling to find food and especially places to stay, after many have been evacuated from their own homes. Please, anything you can do to help is appreciated," Tsunoda concluded.

Donating money

Tsunoda also added a QR code to his Tweet, making it easy to donate money. Earlier in the day, Stefano Domenicali announced that Formula 1 will also be raising money for the victims of the natural disaster. This, according to the Italian, includes a special focus on employees of Alpha Tauri, whose children lost everything.
