Sebastian Vettel will go out on track at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend. The German racing driver will take a seat in the McLaren MP4/8, which Ayrton Senna also drove, as a fitting tribute to the late Formula 1 icon. On Wednesday 1 May, Vettel's news broke. This was exactly 30 years after the driver's accident at Imola.

The four-time world champion in Formula 1 will be present at Imola for this year's Grand Prix. The Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix will take place on the weekend of 17-19 May. There has often been speculation about a Vettel comeback in the king class of motorsport, but there does not seem to be any sign of that as yet.

Vettel himself is at least enthusiastic, and eager to get into the car in Italy. "Ayrton Senna was not only a driver who I valued highly for being one of the best racing has ever seen, but also a man of great compassion,” said Vettel. “It’s been 30 years since his accident and I would like to pay tribute to Ayrton," Vettel said.
