Verstappen looks forward to Imola Grand Prix: 'Iconic circuit'
- Tygo Bekkema
Max Verstappen is looking forward to the upcoming race weekend in Imola, he says in a preview released by his team Red Bull Racing. The Dutchman is happy to be racing in Europe again and can look back on some good results in Imola.
The race could not take place in 2023 due to severe flooding in northern Italy, and Verstappen is all the more delighted that Formula 1 is now returning. "Imola is an iconic track to race at and we are excited to be back again after it was cancelled last year. We have had some great Team results here and it is always interesting to race at a really old-school track like this, as it is very technical, with some complex combinations of corners and braking zones."
Verstappen happy to return to Europe
The most recent race in Imola dates back to 2022 when Verstappen won with a lead of over 16 seconds over Sergio Perez. But the Red Bull driver is not resting on his laurels ahead of the first of a total of two Grands Prix in Italy. "The team in Milton Keynes and trackside have all been working really hard, and I have been back at the factory this week working on the sim. It’s nice to be back racing in Europe again too, so we are looking forward to seeing what the weekend brings."
