Actually, every driver wants to drive as fast as possible, at or maybe just over the limit. Logan Sargeant also had to think beyond a podium finish in the final races of the F2 season. While his team Carlin was hoping for great results, the American had to make sure he picked up points for his superlicence. Therefore, by taking a little too much risk, causing an accident was out of the question.

Sargeant has achieved the required 40 for his superlicence and so he may take a seat of the Williams next season. To Autosport.com he confesses he is happy to make the switch to Formula 1. "For sure, there was pressure on the weekend, and there was a bit of weight off my shoulders when we got the job done", he says of the closing races in Abu Dhabi.

Sargeant was given the opportunity by Williams to score points for his license during four free practice sessions. An added benefit was that the American could gain the necessary experience in a Formula 1 car. He does not have many opportunities to do so, as the number of test days is limited in 2023. After testing in Bahrain, the first Grand Prix is immediately scheduled after the test. But Sargeant does not fear that he is not ready for Formula 1. Indeed, looking back on his year in F2, he has developed considerably, the rookie points out.

Competing at top level for a full season for the top places has made him a more complete driver. Especially in qualifying, Sargeant has made progress, he concludes. "But most important is the amount of time I’ve spent on the F1 simulator, the FP1s I’ve done as of late, and coming into this last test - that’s what really gives me the chance to push out my comfort zones and improve the most", Sargeant said.
