Wolff set to clamp down on Mercedes performances

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff expresses his disappointment confirming that his team can’t lose any more points as he looks to clamp down on performances.

The Silver Arrows still lead the constructors' championship, but after misfires in Monaco and Canada, Ferrari remain hot on their tail. The next obstacle is the French Grand Prix, the first of a tripleheader.

“This season’s battle is intense and, we need to be on top of our game every weekend to win races and to fight for this championship,” said Toto Wolff in an interview on f1i.com.

“France should be an interesting race, we don’t often get to race on a track where we have little to no historical data.

"It makes preparing for the weekend a bit trickier than usual, but that element of the unknown also adds to the challenge.”

And going into the first ever tripleheader, Wolff remains positive about the challenge. It’s perhaps the most important time for Hamilton through the course of the season and not only because his home race is involved.

"The French Grand Prix marks the first race of the triple-header, which will test all F1 teams to their limits," Wolff added.

"But it also offers the chance to score a lot of points over the course of three weeks - which is precisely what we're setting out to do.”
