Lewis Hamilton has little more at stake in the next five Grands Prix. The British driver is in sixth position in the world championship, trailing Carlos Sainz by 32 points and ahead of Lando Norris by 70 points. However, for the seven-time world champion personally, the racing year is far from over.

Indeed, Hamilton has yet to manage a victory in a race weekend in 2022. The Singapore GP seemed to be a prime opportunity for him to still ensure this, but he failed to pull off such a scenario last weekend.

Although it was a disappointment for Hamilton, in a conversation with Formula1.com he says that he wants to focus mainly on the future. "Just always realising you can’t change the past, so you have to work towards just being better in the future," he says.

Hamilton talks about 'unique' circuit

The next challenge awaits him this weekend when the GP of Japan is on the programme. In the past two seasons the race weekend did not take place, meaning some drivers have never driven a Formula One race in Japan. Hamilton is looking forward to the event.

"It’s an amazing circuit, all the drivers love this circuit, because it’s one of the most old-school designs. The trip out here to Japan is great, the bullet train journey, the interaction with the fans. It’s unique, it’s a very, very unique weekend and place to be."
