When looking back on his early F1 career with Sky Sports F1, Fernando Alonso talked about driving against his idol Michael Schumacher, who was at the peak of his powers at the time.

Alonso was a young whippersnapper when he first started out in F1 over fifteen years ago. To be driving against Michael Schumacher was surreal to him.

"I went my own way, of course, but Michael was my role model," Alonso remembers.

"On Imola, for example, or Magny-Cours.

"Not only my duels against Michael were unforgettable, but so were the ones with Ralf.

"My best overtake ever was in Japan in 2005 when I passed him.

"It was an extraordinary move on an extraordinary driver."

That was the same race where Kimi Raikkonen somehow won after starting all the way back in P17.
