Ecclestone firmly denies millions fraud in court

Bernie Ecclestone was in court on Monday, reports Sky News. The former Formula 1 boss is suspected of having committed a multi-million fraud between 13 July 2013 and 5 October 2016, but according to Ecclestone, none of this is true and he therefore deserves to be acquitted.

According to the indictment, he failed to declare as much as 400 million pound in assets to the tax authorities during that period. This would have ensured that Ecclestone made a huge profit which he pocketed for years.

He would have set up one trust abroad for the benefit of his daughters Deborah (67), Tamara (38) and Petra (33). Ecclestone, however, denies having had anything to do with this and informed the judge that he is innocent. According to the medium, the case received a lot of media attention.

Possibility of a ten-year prison sentence

The 91-year-old Ecclestone will have to wait until the next hearing. On 19 September, the judge intends to hear the case further. For what he is accused of, he could face up to ten years in prison.
