Williams introduced a major update package at Silverstone, but so far only applied the updates to Alexander Albon's car. For the French Grand Prix, Nicholas Latifi will also be fitted with new parts, much to the delight of the Canadian driver.

"Having introduced some new parts to Alex’s car over the last couple of races, we are now in a position where both cars can run with the upgrades," said Head of Car Performance Dave Robson in a Williams press release. "Although the weather in Silverstone, and the Sprint format in Austria were not ideal for testing, we have seen enough encouraging feedback to be confident that we have taken a step forward."

Latifi happy with updates Williams

For Latifi, the update is reason to be excited ahead of the second half of the season. "I’m super excited to get to France because it’s the first race where I’m going to have the upgrade package," said the Canadian. "We’ve seen some positive signs from it on Alex’s car so far, so I’m looking forward to getting my first taste."

Latifi hopes the updates will provide the 'extra bit of relative speed' that the team has been missing and hopes to get more involved in midfield battle in the second half of the season. Latifi is currently last in the championship behind Nico Hulkenberg, who has been filling in for Sebastian Vettel for two races. The Williams driver is the only one from the current field who has remained point blank in the 2022 Formula One season.
