Red Bull Racing had as many as five juniors racing in Formula 2, but after Juri Vips' resignation there are only four left. Christian Horner is not at all worried that there will be a lack of talent in the Austrian stable. There are plenty of men coming up, according to the team boss.

According to Horner, it is clear that Red Bull has a lot of young and promising drivers in its academy at the moment. Liam Lawson, Dennis Hauger, Ayumu Iwasa and Jeahan Daruvala are all in Formula 2. Behind them in Formula 3 are talented men like Johnny Edgar and Isack Hadjar.

"We’ve got no shortage of talent coming through, all the way from karting through the different formula cars. And that’s always been a policy of Red Bull, to give youth a chance, to back youth, and give opportunities to some of these kids that otherwise wouldn’t have been able to progress their careers," Horner is quoted as saying by MotorsportWeek.com and others.

Lawson in pole position?

At Red Bull they don't seem to be too sad that Vips is no longer part of the team. The Estonian driver would have the best chance of making the switch to AlphaTauri in Formula 1 with Liam Lawson at the moment. Twenty-year-old Lawson seems to have the best chance, especially since Hauger and Iwasa are only in their first year in Formula 2 and Daruvala is 'already' 23 years old.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Lawson will be promoted to the premier class of motor sport as early as next year. Pierre Gasly has already been confirmed by AlphaTauri for 2023, so he will have to hope for Yuki Tsunoda's spot. The Japanese driver is not yet sure of his place and will need to perform well in the remainder of the season to secure an extension. Mistakes like those made in the British Grand Prix will certainly not be part of that.
