Charles Leclerc tells the Daily Mail that being a Formula 1 driver is not always easy. The Monegasque has lost many important people in his life because of the sport he loves so much.

Difficult times for Leclerc

Leclerc says that despite the loss of family and friends, he will always carry on racing. "I don't think about danger," he says in conversation with the Daily Mail. Leclerc had to lose his father to an illness at a young age, as well as godfather Jules Bianchi and close friend Anthoine Hubert, who both died in fatal accidents while racing.

"It is very, very difficult to see people you have known but aren't here anymore because of the sport you love most," Leclerc said. However, the Ferrari driver reveals that he would never want to stop racing because of this. "I have been programmed to do this since I was young," Leclerc continued. The Monegasque admits he can be an emotional person at home, but that he puts this away when he gets into the car.

Strong season

Leclerc is currently enjoying one of his strongest seasons to date. He is virtually faultless and has two wins to his name in 2022. The Ferrari, on the other hand, is notorious for letting him down at times, resulting in two stoppages. The gap to championship leader Max Verstappen is currently 49 points.
