After qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamiton qualified a respectable 5th. Athough this was a massive improvement from the previous round in Saudi Arabia, the seven-time world champion was not satisfied.

Hamilton is back

The Saudi Arabian GP saw one of the worst weekends of Lewis Hamilton's Formula One career, qualifying 16th and finishing 10th. However in Australia, qualifying 5th, Hamilton appears to have his mojo back.

"Compared to yesterday and the last race yes [this feels like a big win]." The Brit spoke to Sky after qualifying. "It is nice to be back up there. Jeddah was really tough to be so far back and not make a lot of progress. Yesterday was a difficult day, we had a bigger deficit so we worked hard through the night. I think we extracted the most from the car."

More to come

Despite the impressive qualifying performance from Hamilton, the Brit admitted there as more in the car. "I feel like there was more in the car from my lap, that is a positive. Naturally gutted I wasn't able to extract that from the car. Problem is, when you push the car a little but more it's spiteful, she's like a viper or rattle snake. You never know!"

Looking for a solution

The issues that Mercedes have been facing this season are well-documented. However, Hamiton reveals that the team and him are busy at work to find a fix to the car's issues. "Me and Russell have slightly different cars because we are trying different things. I have something that makes the car heavier but not a huge step. But hopefully it will allow the team to gain more information for the race tomorrow."
