Aston Martin hopes to make developments in the coming years so that it will be competing for the world title. During the Bahrain Grand Prix, however, it was revealed that this is easier said than done. According to Ralf Schumacher, the team is on the wrong track.

At the start of 2021, Aston Martin brought in Sebastian Vettel to take the racing stable to the next level. In his first season he performed satisfactorily, but in the coming years, Aston Martin really had to make a leap. With the new regulations, the team hoped to develop faster.

The performance in the opening race, however, was not great. While Lance Stroll finished twelfth and thus outside the points, Nico Hukenberg, who replaced Vettel, had to settle for seventeenth place.

Schumacher has little faith in Aston Martin

Although it was only the first race, Schumacher does not expect Aston Martin to improve any time soon. "The car is a disaster by the sound of it," he let it be known in an interview with the German Sport1. "On top of that, the owner of the team is now attending meetings and saying how things should be done. If that is the case then it becomes very complicated."
