Bottas points to Mercedes: 'Learned so much'

Valtteri Bottas has the grueling task of taking Alfa Romeo to the next level next season. Speaking to The Race the Finnish driver spoke about his new challenge, bringing with him his experience at Mercedes.

The German racing stable brought Bottas in as a replacement for Nico Rosberg in 2017. Whereas the German managed to beat Lewis Hamilton, Bottas failed to make things difficult for his teammate in the years that followed. It caused Mercedes and Bottas to part ways at the end of last year.

However, it did not mean the end of Bottas in Formula 1, as Alfa Romeo managed to snare Bottas. Together with debutant Guanyu Zhou, he will be responsible for the points next season. Although the Finn has a different role at Alfa Romeo than at Mercedes, he thinks the experience with the Germans will be crucial.

"I’ve been inside a team that knows how to win," he explained in the interview, referring to Mercedes. "With the team spirit, I’ve learned so much that actually if you can get the spirit up, it really boosts the performance in every area."
