Lando Norris speaks candidly about his mental health problems. The Briton has teamed up with McLaren teammate Daniel Ricciardo and team members with the charity Mind. Norris is proud to be able to help his fans in this way.

His debut season in Formula 1 in 2019 was not easy for Norris. It had a big impact on the driver on a mental level, causing him to talk more and more openly about it in order to break the stigma surrounding mental health. The driver is proud to stand up for people who are also struggling.

At F1.com Norris is asked why he is willing to talk so openly about mental health. According to the Brit, there are no negatives and it actually helps other people who are also struggling.

Significant impact

"I’m proud to be part of that group of people who have accepted it and are happy and confident to speak out about it," Norris says he owes his openness mostly to his fans. The 22-year-old driver received more and more messages of thanks.

"I really realised the impact I can have and the place I am in Formula 1. So therefore I thought it better to speak about it more publicly, and try and help as many people as possible", he concludes. Among other things, Norris participated in charity events last year and he raised money himself with a special helmet design at Silverstone.
