Sainz opens attack on Verstappen and Hamilton: 'Be prepared'

Last calendar year Ferrari managed to put the dramatic 2020 season behind them. With Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, the team has two drivers who should be able to fight for the world championship again within a few years. Sainz has a lot of confidence in that.

The Spaniard was a teammate of Max Verstappen at Toro Rosso and saw the Dutchman take the top prize this season. It is the driver's big dream to achieve the same in the future, which is why he works hard every day to get the most out of the car at Ferrari. In conversation with the official website of Formula 1 he talks about that dream.

"It’s been fairly easy for me to keep reminding myself that I am achieving a dream: that is to drive for the best team in Formula 1 and the most historic team in Formula 1," stated Sainz, who is ready to capture the world title. "I will be as prepared as possible."

Whereas Leclerc got off to a good start immediately in 2021, it took Sainz a while to reach his level. However, the Spanish driver worked himself up over the course of the year and managed to have more points than his teammate at the end of the season. With a fifth-place, he only had to put Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, and Sergio Perez ahead of him.
