Renault are well on their way to recording their best season since the return of the F1 team in 2016. This was underlined last weekend by their first podium finish in five years, a third-place for Daniel Ricciardo.

Emotional moment

Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul is still reminiscing about the podium place in Germany. "It's clearly a very emotional moment, it's a great feeling," Abiteboul said in a conversation with Motorsport.com. He says it's a very important moment. Not just for himself, but for the whole team. This is something that gives everyone a lot of energy.
The team have had a lot of young employees in recent years who don't know what it feels like to have won a race, or even to be on the podium. "We have to make them addicted to success, so that they can develop more, build more success," Abiteboul sees the future brightly. But he is also realistic. "Yes, right now, we need a bit of circumstance to be on that podium, but the focus will be on understanding the problems we have had.”
