A lot of attention is on Alex Albon this weekend as he makes his debut for Red Bull racing this weekend. The former Toro Rosso driver was given a promotion during the summer break and he admits it came as a "surprise".
"[It was] definitely a surprise, I started the summer break expecting to relax but on the first day I got told the news so I've had a lot of time to think about it," Albon said during the press conference ahead of the Belgium Grand Prix.
"It was my first time speaking to everyone on Monday, so catching up with everyone now and getting know everyone in the team."
Albon will start the Belgium Grand Prix from the back of the grid. The British-Thai driver has featured in just 12 races in Formula 1 and as a result of this, he admits it's all about taking baby steps.
"We're starting at the back anyway so we'll just take it step by step [this weekend]. I'm new to the environment so I need to understand how the team works, how the car works and also talk to Max [Verstappen]. I'm a 10 for excitement, but the number for nerves is also high!"
