Marc Marquez claimed his first victory of the season and his 100th in total on an impressive return in Hungary, edging out KTM's Pedro Acosta for the win.
The race was nothing short of a nightmare for Aprilia as Jorge Martin lost control in the braking zone of Turn 1, barrelling into the pack and causing a huge crash which took out his teammate, Marco Bezzecchi. As the top two in the championship, it could be a costly incident further down the line since neither will score any points.
Fabio Di Giannantonio, Raul Fernandez and Fermin Aldeguer were all collatoral damage in the crash, leaving pole-sitter Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta to clear off in front. The future Ducati teammates duelled it out through the narrow, technical circuit and despite Acosta's resilient defence, he eventually had to yield to the reigning world champion.
