Aprilia CEO highlights Marc Marquez's strength: 'We need to learn that from him'

Marc Marquez completed a perfect weekend at the Aragon Grand Prix, winning both Saturday's Sprint and Sunday's Grand Prix.

With those 37 points added to his tally, the Ducati rider has closed the gap to Jorge Martin from 40 points after Silverstone to just 19 points in the standings. At one point, the defending champion was more than a 100 points behind as well.

Rivola explained that having a rival like Marquez makes their title push with Martin and Marco Bezzecchi even better.

He told Sky Sports Italia: "We know we have an opponent like Marquez, who is one of the greatest riders in history. Having the honour of trying to beat him is fantastic. It’s a huge motivation, and we’ll keep trying until the very end."

According to the Italian, his team can learn from the Spaniard. He pointed to Mugello and Silverstone as examples of Marquez's strength.

He continued: "It seemed like he was struggling, but in reality, he brought home the result without taking any risks, because he knows consistency is the most important thing. Then, when it’s time to deliver the victory, because he knows he’s the strongest, he does it.

Rivola explained that he focuses on telling his riders not to be too disappointed if they miss out on the podium or only finish third. "You can get used to good results very quickly, but we shouldn’t forget that we are fighting against giants and against people who are much more accustomed to winning than we are."

He concluded: "Of course, if there’s one person who has believed that Bezzecchi and Martin could become world champions since last year, it’s me. It’s true that we’ve made the right moves, including, most recently, those for the future, but that isn’t enough. We’re here to fight, and we have to take this all the way to the final race."
