Friday in Montreal did not go as planned. The first practice session saw hardly any driving due to CCTV problems. As a result, the second free practice session was extended by half an hour, but that too saw two red flags. Both Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon stalled with technical problems. Mercedes was ahead of Ferrari in FP2, while Red Bull Racing failed to move beyond sixth and eighth.

Heavy rain was predicted for Saturday in Canada prior to the weekend, but only time will tell if this prediction will be true. Last year Max Verstappen took pole position on a wet Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, can the Dutchman repeat that feat this year?
