With the first day on track behind them, drivers and teams are ready to return for what promises to be a crucial day of the weekend. FP3 will provide a clearer picture of the true performance levels ahead of qualifying.
Yesterday saw a strong showing from Ferrari, with Lewis Hamilton finishing ahead of his teammate, posting a time already faster than last seasonโs pole. The two Mercedes followed, while Max Verstappen ended the day only sixth.
McLaren faced issues, with Oscar Piastri suffering technical problems on his MCL39 in FP1, and Lando Norris hitting the wall in FP2, forcing him to miss part of the session.
For Saturday, the chance of rain remains at 40%, with potential showers expected just before FP3 gets underway at 12:30pm. Highs of 20 degrees are expected, while winds will be more southerly and stronger, reaching 15 to 25 kph.
Qualifying in the afternoon is expected to be mostly dry, with skies expected to be cloudy with some sun. The wind will pick up once again, with 20 to 30 kph winds expected, reaching 50 to 60 kph at 6pm.
The temperature for Saturday's timed session is expected to be 21 degrees Celsius, with the temperature dropping compared to Friday's running in the Azerbaijan capital.
Sunday will see similar conditions to qualifying for the Grand Prix, with a 20% chance of rain predicted alongside cloudy conditions, with some potential sunny spells.
A very low track temperature of 28 degrees Celsius is expected, while Baku is expected to reach 21 degrees Celsius at 3pm local time.
Once again, as is the theme for this weekend, there will be some strong winds hitting the track that teams and drivers must accommodate, with 20 to 30 kph wind speed and gusts of up to 50 to 60 kph.
