Entering the weekend, every team except Alpine brought updates to the final Formula 1 race weekend before the upcoming summer break. Red Bull Racing and Ferrari introduced changes to their 'Macarena' rear wings, while McLaren and Mercedes also brought a range of updates to the Hungaroring. Aston Martin also brought a total of 16 updates in order to catch up to the rest of the grid.

Entering this weekend, Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli leads the drivers' standings. The young Italian holds a 45-point advantage over Lewis Hamilton and a 50-point lead over George Russell following his victory at the Belgian Grand Prix. That means he will definitely lead the standings heading into the summer break.

After the first day, Ferrari was seemingly the team to beat in Hungary. Charles Leclerc topped the first session, while Lewis Hamilton was the quickest in FP2. During the final free practice session on Saturday however, Lando Norris was the quickest.

Mercedes' deputy technical director, Simone Resta has admitted that it "makes the sport better" to see Lewis Hamilton in the championship battle against Kimi Antonelli.

The Italian explained: "There have been some ups and downs in the various races, but fundamentally both of them have been very strong so far, with good performances.
