Norris sets the pace ahead of Hamilton during final practice in Hungary

Hamilton and Antonelli finished a tenth behind the McLaren driver on the best attempt. Charles Leclerc, in fourth place, was more than three tenths behind.

Oscar Piastri finished fifth ahead of George Russell, who continued to struggle. The two Red Bull Racing drivers, Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar, finished seventh and eighth respectively. Verstappen was seven tenths of a second slower than Norris.

As is often the case in FP3, there was no rush for the teams and drivers to head out on track.

The first to do so a few minutes into the session was Franco Colapinto, who crashed at the final corner during FP2. As a precaution, Alpine also changed the gearbox on the Argentine driver's car. The next to join him was Lance Stroll, who was unable to complete any laps in FP2 after a suspension issue during the first session on Friday.

Twenty minutes into the session, the first red flag of the day was brought out after Sergio Perez's Cadillac came to a halt. The Mexican was forced to stop in Turn 2 after his brakes caught fire once again.

By the halfway point of the session, the drivers began pushing on the soft tyres. Hamilton initially went fastest with a 1:19.0, narrowly ahead of Norris and Hadjar. However, his teammate soon improved to a 1:18.6, while Antonelli also went quicker than the seven-time world champion. Meanwhile, Russell locked up into Turn 1.

After the second attempts, Norris took the lead with a 1:17.9, setting a lap a tenth faster than Hamilton's. The defending world champion was the fastest in Sector 2, while the Ferraris worked better in Sector 3.
