What happened during the first day in Las Vegas?
Charles Leclerc set the pace in the first session of the weekend in Las Vegas. The Monegasque driver set a 1:34.8, finishing ahead of Alexander Albon and Yuki Tsunoda.
Continuing the pattern seen at the Sao Paulo GP, Kimi Antonelli finished second behind the Briton, with Leclerc completing the top three. The
Ferrari driver’s session ended on a sour note due to a gearbox failure.
Max Verstappen set the ninth fastest time.
There was also a mysterious red flag during FP2. Race control shared it happened because a marshal reported a loose manhole cover at Turn 17.
After the first sessions, there are more question marks than answers.
