Masashi Yamamoto has had a special weekend. The boss of Honda's Formula 1 business was emotional in a different way than Max Verstappen's four victories for Red Bull Racing and Honda.
Last year, for the first time since Honda returned to Formula 1 in 2015, Verstappen was able to give the Japanese engine supplier a victory. This was of course much to the delight of Yamamoto. Since then there have been four victories by Verstappen in a Red Bull until last weekend. However, the Japanese see Gasly's victory differently.
He says to the Japanese AS-Web: "This was a different kind of joy for me compared to Red Bull Honda. I was delighted that Scuderia AlphaTauri Honda was called at the podium ceremony. I won four times with Red Bull but they never said Honda, so it was an emotional moment for me," the director is proud.
Red Bull is officially called Aston Martin Red Bull Racing so Honda wasn't mentioned in previous wins. That was the case now.

AlphaTauri's team boss was already confident during the preparations for the Monza race. Franz Tost said they wanted to aim for the top positions, according to Yamamoto. That it turns out this way is almost like a fairy tale.
