The future of Mercedes in Formula 1 remains uncertain for the time being. Mainly new Daimler CEO, Ola Kallenius, would have other plans with the brand, according to a new statement.
In the long run, Formula 1 wants to enter a future in which it remains CO2-neutral. Kallenius, who was also a great supporter of a Mercedes Formula E team, demands of Formula 1 that the future will be CO2-neutral. In this way he sees a future for Mercedes in the royal class of motorsport.

CO2-neutral

''Formula 1 is fantastic and is a sport that I grew up with. The sport is big, magical and a great sign for our brand. However, we need to bring the technique and the passion for racing into a more sustainable vision. If we could become CO2 neutral in the long run, that would be great,'' says Kallenius in a Q&A of the team.
Whether that is also a future that Formula 1 will focus on in the short term remains to be seen. Since the return of Mercedes in 2010, the brand has won everything there is to win in Formula 1 and has broken one record after another. A departure from the sport is certainly not excluded.
