The world title for Max Verstappen is still not one hundred percent certain. Mercedes has until Thursday evening to officially go to the FIA's International Court of Appeal to protest against the final result of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Verstappen is faced with this fact.
By the BBC The 24-year old Dutchman is asked if he doesn't think Mercedes should stop this fight and accept the result. "It's difficult, I can't speak for them. Races should be won on the track and I think for the whole season, we have been doing that. As I've said before, if you look at the whole season and take away our bad luck, we would have already won the championship before that."

Verstappen has no doubts

Verstappen turns it around and states that Mercedes is at all lucky to be in this situation right now. Whether he still fears losing his championship? "No, there are no doubts." On Thursday, Verstappen will be presented with the trophy that goes with winning the world title in 2021 at the FIA gala. From 21:00 hours that can be followed here.
Verstappen further says that there is mutual respect with Lewis Hamilton. That the Brit said directly after the race that the result was manipulated, does not change anything. Verstappen understands the emotion of his rival and calls it 'normal'. He expects the seven times world champion to be back next year and perform at the same high level as this season.
