At Mercedes they seem to accept that the world championship has gone to Max Verstappen. The German team is rumoured to be considering withdrawing the protest and Toto Wolff has also sent out several congratulations.
The Mercedes team boss already congratulated Max Verstappen and now it has become known that Christian Horner also received a congratulations. By phone the 48-year old received a message from his colleague.
Jenna Fryer, journalist from the Associated Press, spoke to Horner via a video connection on Thursday. Horner said in that conversation that he in turn also congratulated Wolff with the constructors' championship. He also reminded Wolff that in terms of money/revenue it is better to win the teams' championship than the drivers' championship.
The difference between P1 and P2 in terms of prize money in Formula 1 is pretty big. This is about millions of euros.
