Sainz on team-mate: 'It will be difficult to beat you'

On Friday Ferrari gave their first presentation. The video was all about introducing the new team. Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and team boss Mattia Binotto asked each other questions. One of the topics was the role of Sainz.

Leclerc asked his new teammate if he saw himself beating Leclerc. After some chuckling, the Spaniard answered honestly. "For me, this year will be a bit complicated to beat you. Because I don't know the team and the car, but I will do my best. If there is a year where we have to work together, I think it will be this year."

By this Sainz is referring to the expectations of the Italians this year. Binotto said earlier that this year will be about rebuilding. He expects the drivers to make few or no mistakes.

Sainz seems to be able to accommodate this. He is open to working with Leclerc to bring Ferrari back up to level. "The most important thing is to move Ferrari forward and if we are fighting for titles or important things we will worry more about each other," he said.
