Cyril Abiteboul has admitted that Christian Horner and Helmut Marko have already discussed a new partnership from 2022 onwards with Renault CEO Luca de Meo prior to the Eifel Grand Prix. The team boss of the French team states that this does not mean a deal has been struck.
"It was a neutral meeting," says Abiteboul when he is asked by Nico Rosberg on Sky Sports.

Introduction to Red Bull

The 42-year-old Renault boss says it was more like an introduction. In terms of deals, nothing has yet been discussed about the supply of power units to the Austrian team from 2022 onwards. "Luca has only recently become our CEO. It was his first time with Red Bull. It was more like getting to know each other."
The Eifel GP will live long in the memory for Abiteboul as Renault's first podium since returning to F1 in 2016. Daniel Ricciardo took an excellent third place at the Nurburgring for the French team.
