Nico Hulkenberg disappeared from Formula 1 after 2019 to rest for a while, but that trip was not necessary because of the coronavirus. However, now that all circuits are open again, Nico is one of the first to be ready to race again.
Hulkenberg was shown the door at Renault and then didn't really get the chance with other teams in Formula 1. Hulkenberg would have had to sacrifice a lot and he didn't want to do it anymore. Besides that Hulkenberg has been in F1 long enough to know that it only makes sense to join a top team.

New class for Hulkenberg

While Hulkenberg initially let other classes take their course, the German now seems to be longing for racing. Last weekend he did a test at the Nürburgring for the team mcchip-dkr. The German made such an impression there in the Lamborghini and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS that he may be considering a future in sports cars.
''He was very fast and gave us great feedback right away. I think he would immediately be a reinforcement for our team'', was mcchip-dkr team boss Danny Kubasik praising the German over Motorsport-total.com. Whether Hulkenberg is actually considering a move to sports cars is still the question for now? Besides Le Mans Hulkenberg has never made a trip outside F1 before.
