Of all ten teams on the grid, Williams currently is going through the roughest patch. The poor performance of the past two seasons combined with the corona crisis has forced the team to take far-reaching measures to stay financially healthy. Co-founder Patrick Head thinks something has to change quickly.
A possible scenario was added to the far-reaching measures to stay financially healthy at the beginning of June. The complete sale of the team to a wealthy investor could be a last resort. The team was founded in 1977 by Frank Williams together with Patrick Head. In twenty years they performed exceptionally well. The co-founder therefore calls the current form of the team 'sad'.
During the Motor Sport podcast of Motorsportmagazine.com Head says: "You can't run an F1 team and keep your head above water while consistently finishing tenth".

2020 crucial season

According to Head, next season will be a crucial year. The team showed a new livery earlier on Friday for next season. "For this year, it's crucial that they come back and hunt for better spots. I'm not naive and I don't think they're going to fight for the podium, but I hope they can at least get into the low midfield spots".

Head adds that with the current team and a few additions, it should be possible: "There are quite some fantastic employees over there. On the technical front they have unfortunately had a series of not too strong leaders. The difference lies in that. They need strong technical leadership."
