Apple TV+ is going to make a documentary about Lewis Hamilton. The streaming service announced this on Thursday via its own channels. The seven-time world champion will be followed closely on and off the track.
In a statement, Apple TV+ said: “Hamilton has blazed an uncharted trail professionally, socially and culturally, and transformed the sport on a global scale. Coming from a working-class family, Lewis succeeded in a sport where the odds were stacked against him but where his talent shone through, allowing him to dominate the sport for over a decade."
The video-on-demand web television service continued: "“Hamilton is currently the only Black driver to race in the Formula 1 series. He embraced what made him different and his rise to the top of his career has made him fiercely committed to using his platform to influence positive change for future generations."

Hamilton will produce himself

Exactly what the documentary will be called is still unknown. What has already been announced is that the documentary will be directed by British filmmaker Matt Kay. The production will be done by Lewis Hamilton himself, his media manager Penni Thow, One Community and Box to Box Films - the makers of Netflix series Drive to Survive.

The documentary will feature filming in the paddock and pit box of Mercedes. Hamilton himself will of course tell his story at length, but Mercedes employees and an "all-star cast of guest interviewers" will also have their say.
