Sergio Perez has grabbed pole position for the second time this season. The Mexican Red Bull Racing driver took advantage of a red flag caused by Charles Leclerc. With 1 minute and 36 seconds to go, the session was not resumed. For Max Verstappen, the grapes are sour. He has to make do with a ninth starting spot.
Fernando Alonso, who had some difficult practice sessions in his Aston Martin anyway, is next to Perez on the front row of the grid. The second starting row is occupied by Carlos Sainz and the surprising Kevin Magnussen. Pierre Gasly and George Russell take fifth and sixth positions at the start of the race.
Max Verstappen has to come from P9, while Lewis Hamilton is even further back. The Mercedes driver was eliminated in Q2 after driving a 13th time.
