Max Verstappen took victory at Paul Ricard, the circuit where Mercedes has ruled supreme in recent seasons. The 13-time Grand Prix winner had to fight hard for it, but he took revenge after his retirement in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

McLaren is the 'best of the rest', while Aston Martin also finished with two cars in the points. Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso also scored points for the world championship.
