Max Verstappen takes pole position for the last race of 2023. The Dutchman did not have an easy weekend until qualifying, but he still managed to put his car in first place on the grid. Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri join the top three.

Q1

A big name was immediately knocked out in Q1. It is an important weekend for Ferrari, as they battle for P2 in the constructors' championship, but Carlos Sainz was unable to get past sixteenth place. Another name expected in Q2 was Logan Sargeant. The Williams was very fast on Saturday morning, but track limits cost the American twice.

Q2

In Q2, a competitor of Sainz's was also out. Lewis Hamilton could not get into the top ten in what is an important weekend for his team. Alexander Albon, who was expected in Q3 after his good time in Q1, also did not make it into the top ten.

Q3

Q3 was for Verstappen. Lando Norris seemed to be on his way to a high starting spot for a long time but made a mistake in the third sector. As a result, he only starts fifth in Abu Dhabi.
