Full American Grand Prix Sprint shootout results | Verstappen takes pole

Max Verstappen has taken pole for Saturday's sprint race. The Dutchman was the quickest in the sprint shootout, in which he was narrowly faster than Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. View the full results here.

After losing qualifying on Friday, Verstappen was clearly keen to set the fastest time during the sprint shootout. The Dutchman was the fastest in every part of the shootout, and also in the session where it mattered the most. Where things went wrong on Friday, Verstappen was now slightly faster than Leclerc and Hamilton. The two McLarens put themselves in fourth and fifth place.

It was another disappointing session for Sergio Perez. The Mexican will start the sprint race from P7, after being five-tenths slower than Verstappen. The sprint shootout in America was also disappointing for George Russell, who finds himself in P8.
